The primary ingredients in FEM Cardio represent the most logical and
often used combinations of therapeutic agents for the lowering of
homocysteine. FEM Cardio contains Vitamin B12, a required co-factor in
the conversion of homocysteine to methionine via the folate pathway.
Vitamin B12 is a common deficiency among vegetarians and the elderly.
Vitamin B6 is known the be deficient in the standard American diet and
is in FEM Cardio because it has been shown to lower homocysteine levels
in elderly patients-even among those previously supplemented with folic
acid. Betaine (TMG) acts as a methyl donor to homocysteine-converting it
to methionine. This conversion pathway occurs in the liver and kidney
and may contribute to homocysteine reduction. Certain commonly used
prescriptions are linked to an increase in homocysteine levels; due to
their depletion of B vitamins and folic acid. Using FEM Cardio is
advised for an adult taking any prescription cardiovascular medication.
